Bug ID: 173730
Summary: PDF export: option to NOT update dynamic date fields
with today's date
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Printing and PDF export
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
If you open an existing document that was created last year, and that has
dynamic date/time fields in the text, Libreoffice will currently always update
those fields with today's date.
While I do understand that this is the concept, and is working as intended,
sometimes it is more desired to display the date as it was when the document
was last saved instead.
Especially when using Libreoffice not for document editing, but just to convert
existing letters to PDF for archival purposes, that are supposed to show the
date they were originally created and printed/send by postal mail.
It would be nice if there was a CLI option to tell LibreOffice to NOT update
the date/time fields but leave them as they were the last time the document was
saved, when converting to PDF.
Steps to Reproduce:
libreoffice --headless --convert-to pdf
document-from-last-year-with-date-fields.docx
Actual Results:
Generated document contains text that mentions today's date (25 September 2026)
Expected Results:
It would be nice if there was an option to tell it to use the original date
(last year), instead of it updating the dynamic date field.
Reproducible: Always
