            Bug ID: 173779
           Summary: Tooltips for commands with HELP_DEBUG=1 only show the
                    .uno command, but not the label
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 3.5.0 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

1. Launch with HELP_DEBUG=1
2. Make sure Tools - Options - LibreOffice - General: Extended Tips is active
3. Hover over some command in a toolbar

You will only see the --- separator and the command name. This is already seen
in the oldest of linux-43all repo.

The env var is read in the constructor for SfxHelp::SfxHelp:
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/f26084217a406828c7fb013bb006cad4f495a4be/sfx2/source/appl/sfxhelp.cxx#344

It is then checked in SfxHelp::GetHelpText
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/f26084217a406828c7fb013bb006cad4f495a4be/sfx2/source/appl/sfxhelp.cxx#583

The tooltip handling goes via this route even without the debug option, so I am
not sure how the tips get any text normally :)

The issue seems to be in SfxContentHelper::GetActiveHelpString
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/ed0b12f4eadf1f2242f06cbd56804f75376274b1/sfx2/source/bastyp/helper.cxx#159

...where if inspected in a debugger, aRet doesn't get any content, so an empty
string is returned.

A snippet from looking at sfxhelp.cxx in GDB:
Thread 1 "soffice.bin" hit Breakpoint 2, (anonymous
namespace)::SfxHelp_Impl::GetHelpText (aCommandURL=".uno:CharmapControl",
rModule="swriter")
    at /home/user/libreoffice/sfx2/source/appl/sfxhelp.cxx:341
341         return SfxContentHelper::GetActiveHelpString(
aHelpURL.makeStringAndClear() );
(gdb) p aHelpURL
$25 =
"vnd.sun.star.help://swriter/.uno%3ACharmapControl?Language=en-US&System=UNIX&Version=27.2&Active=true"
(gdb) p SfxContentHelper::GetActiveHelpString( aHelpURL.makeStringAndClear() )
$26 = ""
