Bug ID: 173803
Summary: soffice.bin instead of the program name and incorrect
opening of the pinned application in Task Manager
(Linux X11 + qt6/kf6 only)
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When launching LibreOffice with the qt6 plugin on an X11 system, soffice.bin is
always displayed instead of the full name (LibreOffice Writer, etc.). Also,
when pinning the application to the task panel and then launching it, the
application either fails to launch or opens the startcenter instead of the
pinned module.
This appears to be due to the fact that the WM_CLASS value for X11 is not
passed with qt6. The vcl/qt5/QtX11Support.cxx file only sets the correct value
when using qt5 (using CHECK_QT5_USING_X11 check). The problem may have arisen
due to the removal of QtX11Extras in qt6+.
For Qt6, a replacement for the removed solution is proposed: request
qGuiApp->nativeInterface<QNativeInterface::QX11Application>() and call its
connection() method, which will work the same way as QX11Info::connection()
previously did.
The issue can affects distributions that use Plasma 6, but for stability
reasons do not plan to upgrade to version 6.8+, which does not include X11.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Linux with Plasma 6 and X11
2. Launch a LibreOffice module (for example, Writer)
3. Hover over the module icon on the bottom panel
4. Pin the icon to the panel
5. Close the module and try opening it from the panel
Actual Results:
1. The shortcut displays the name soffice.bin instead of LibreOffice Writer.
2. When launched, the pinned module won't open. Startыenter may launch instead,
or nothing will happen, depending on the distribution.
Expected Results:
1. The shortcut displays the name LibreOffice Writer.
2. When launched from the panel, the previously pinned module will open.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
