Bug ID: 173817
Summary: Copying a picture with rotation from a DOCX omits it
from text/html and text/rtf clipboard formats
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Created attachment 208878
--> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=208878&action=edit
Sample: two inline pictures, the right one rotated 180 degrees
Description:
When a DOCX contains an inline picture with a DrawingML rotation (<a:xfrm
rot="10800000">), Writer displays it correctly, but when the content is copied
to the clipboard the picture is missing from both the text/html and the
text/rtf flavors - no placeholder, nothing. Pasting into another application
(e.g. a browser-based HTML editor) therefore loses the picture. Unrotated
pictures in the same selection are copied fine.
Rotated pictures from DOCX are imported as drawing objects with a bitmap fill
(see bug 73797), which is probably why they are skipped. Note that File > Save
as HTML does write them (rasterized as GIF), so the HTML filter can render
them; only the clipboard export drops them.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached rotated-image-clipboard.docx (two inline pictures in one
paragraph; the right one has rot="10800000").
2. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C.
3. Inspect the clipboard's text/html and text/rtf (or paste into a rich text
editor in a browser).
Actual Results:
Only the unrotated picture is present: text/html contains a single <img>,
text/rtf a single \pict.
Expected Results:
Both pictures are copied, ideally with the rotation applied to the image data
(as Save as HTML does), or at least as the unrotated picture.
Reproducible: Always
Version Information:
Version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64), Linux, Wayland. Also reproduced with a headless
instance, copying via .uno:Copy and reading the system clipboard over UNO.
