I knew nothing about this before, but apparently the use of SVGs to lay out text + images is one recommended way to produce fixed-layout EPUBs: https://kb.daisy.org/publishing/docs/fxl/svg.html Examining a fixed-layout EPUB produced by LibreOffice in Sigil, I see that text following an image becomes part of the SVG. Regarding Kindle support, your experience makes sense as the guidelines as of version 2026.3 say "<svg> with <text> is not supported": https://kindlegen.s3.amazonaws.com/AmazonKindlePublishingGuidelines.pdf It seems this would be better as a request to Amazon to expand their support. They have improved SVG support over the years as I found a discussion from 2018 where the guidelines were quoted as saying "Enhanced Typesetting does not support SVG images". A report should deal with a single issue, so I am changing this to be about the centering as likely we want to retain the SVG-based layout.
