Regina Henschel <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #2 from Regina Henschel <[email protected]> --- The mouse pointer shows what it does when dragging. Without a modifier it shows the cut&paste icon. It cuts the content from the spreadsheet and inserts it as OLE-object in Writer. If you drag-drop inside Calc, it cut&paste as well. Inside Calc you can use the Alt-key to shift cells in the target area. With Ctrl it shows a plus to indicate copy&paste. It inserts the clipboard as new table using the rich text format from clipboard. Inside Calc it works the same. Again you can use the Alt-key to shift the cells in the target area in Calc. With Shift+Ctrl it shows a link icon and the inserted table is indeed linked to the spreadsheet as DDE connection. If you change the source in the spreadsheet, the table in Writer adapts, only that it takes some seconds until it updates. Inside Calc it generates formulas with reference to the source area. When you drag from Writer to Calc, the mouse pointer has a plus and indeed the source is not cut. When you combine drag&drop with Shift, is makes a cut&paste and the mouse pointer shows it as such. Microsoft Office does not allow to drag from spreadsheet to text document. From text document to spreadsheet drag&drop is allowed and it makes a cut&paste using it without modifier. Something to ask UX? I consider drag&drop from Calc to Writer a not often used method, because if you copy in Calc and then use the insert drop-down in Writer, you get many more choices how to insert it in Writer.
