Bug ID: 173971
Summary: Implement AtkDocument's get_text_selections() and
set_text_selections()
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
AtkDocument now has API that makes it possible for assistive technologies to
get and set a selection range spanning multiple objects. See:
* https://docs.gtk.org/atk/method.Document.get_text_selections.html
* https://docs.gtk.org/atk/method.Document.set_text_selections.html
Starting with Orca v52, browse mode will include an option for the caret
navigator to also control text selection. It prefers the document interface
first and falls back on the text interface which is notoriously awful
everywhere when it comes to selections spanning multiple objects. (I'll be
filing some bugs related to that in a bit.)
In order for this to work as expected in Writer documents, either all the
AtkText selection-related bugs (and some design decisions) need to be fixed. Or
the AtkDocument API needs to be implemented.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to use AtspiDocument's API to get and set text selections in Writer.
Actual Results:
It doesn't work because the API isn't implemented.
Expected Results:
It would work because the API is implemented.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Version: 26.8.1.1 (X86_64)
Build ID: 680(Build:1)
CPU threads: 48; OS: Linux 7.2; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded
