            Bug ID: 173979
Summary: Calc generates huge PNG when copying large range,
freezes clipboard managers (Klipper/CopyQ) on Wayland
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a sheet with a large range, e.g. 3 columns × 113,000 rows of
numbers/text.
2. Select the whole range and press Ctrl+C while a clipboard manager that
requests
all offered formats is running (Klipper in KDE Plasma 6, or CopyQ).
3. Wait.

Actual result:
Calc (and the clipboard manager) freeze for ~1 minute. Calc offers an image
representation of the selection and renders it as a PNG on request. For 1000
rows the
resulting image is 136 × 17067 px (~17 px per row); for 113,000 rows it would
be
~1.9 million px tall (over 1 GB of raw RGBA), which Calc tries to render and
encode.

Expected result:
Copying a large range should be instant. An image of a range this size is
useless as
clipboard content, so Calc should not generate it (or should skip/limit it
above some
size threshold), at least when text/plain and other formats are available.

Additional info:
- With the Clipboard widget (Klipper) disabled, the same copy is instant, so
the time
is spent in Calc producing the image when a client requests it.
- Reproduced with both Klipper and CopyQ, so it is not specific to one
clipboard manager.
- Related KDE report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=524503
- Environment: Kubuntu [версия], KDE Plasma 6, Wayland session,
LibreOffice [версия, откуда установлен: apt / snap / flatpak / deb с сайта].
- Tried SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen and the kf6/gtk3 backends: the freeze is the
same.
