# Description
The built-in "Centered Text" slide layout appears to define an excessively tall
text placeholder. When the layout is applied to a slide, the resulting
placeholder geometry does not match the geometry defined by the layout.
The issue is reproducible with a clean presentation created from the default
template. No custom master slide or other modifications are required.
In the attached minimal test document (clean-minimal.odp), the placeholder
geometries in the master slide are approximately (first number is for heading,
second for object):
X: 1.4 cm, 1.4 cm
Y: 0.63 cm, 3.69 cm
Width: 25.2 cm, 25.2 cm
Height: 2.63 cm, 9.13 cm
The placeholder on the slide has different geometry:
X: 1.4 cm
Y: 0.63 cm
Width: 25.2 cm
Height: 12.19 cm (and locked in UI)
The unusually large placeholder height is also problematic when using the
layout on master slides intended for title slides, where a moderately sized
text area positioned around the middle of the slide would be more appropriate.
In the second test document (centered-text-on-title.odp) the master slide
objects have approximately these dimensions:
X: 2 cm, 2 cm
Y: 3.2 cm, 9 cm
Width: 24 cm, 24 cm
Height: 5.4 cm, 4.8 cm
The placeholder on the slide has different geometry:
X: 2 cm
Y: 3.2 cm
Width: 24 cm
Height: 25.04 cm (and locked in UI)
Steps to reproduce
Create a new presentation using the default template. Edit master slide to the
title placeholder around the center of the silde and object placeholder
directly bellow (filling approx. the rest of the slide).
Insert a slide and apply the "Centered Text" layout.
Enter a short line of text in the placeholder.
Inspect the placeholder's position and dimensions.
Compare its geometry with the corresponding placeholder(s) in the master slide.
Actual results
The placeholder geometry on the slide differs from the geometry defined by the
master slide. The placeholder height is unexpectedly large relative to the
intended use of the layout.
Expected results
The placeholder geometry on the slide should be consistent with the geometry
defined by the master slide + layout, unless a documented layout or
content-fitting rule requires a change. The "Centered Text" layout should not
produce an unnecessarily tall placeholder.
