Bug ID: 174079
Summary: Editing an external template in Template Manager
creates a duplicate instead of updating the original
file
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.6.3 release
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
LibreOffice Writer’s template management behaves inconsistently with external
.ott files.
Steps to Reproduce:
Configure /home/michael/Vorlagen as the LibreOffice document template
directory.
Open the Template Manager (Ctrl+Shift+N).
Right-click an existing template, e.g. MWBrief.ott, and select Edit.
Make a change and save with Ctrl+S.
Actual Results:
LibreOffice creates another template MWBrief2, instead of updating the original
MWBrief.ott. This can lead to duplicate templates and confusion about which
file is authoritative.
Expected Results:
Saving an edited template should update the original template file, or
LibreOffice should clearly explain why it cannot do so.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
