--- Comment #4 from [email protected] --- Update to comment 2: I can now reproduce this, also with 26.8.1.1 (the same build as comment 3). My test in comment 2 used misspelled words, which is why I missed it. The problem appears when the selected cell has no spelling error. 1. 26.8.0.3: C5 = "Hello world" (spelled correctly). Selected C5 (not in edit mode) and pressed F7. Result: C5 becomes empty and "Hello world" is drawn in C1 while the "continue from the beginning?" prompt, the "spelling check complete" message and the empty Spelling dialog are shown. After closing the dialog the text is back in C5. 2. 26.8.0.3 and 26.8.1.1: a cell in column A (A1 or A3) containing a word that is in the dictionary, then F7. The text is drawn vertically, one letter per line, from A1 downwards, as in the description. It goes back to normal when the Spelling dialog is closed. 3. Control (26.8.0.3): C7 = "Helo wrold" (misspelled). F7 with C7 selected opens the Spelling dialog at "Helo" and the text stays in C7. My UI is zh-CN, so this is not limited to en-US.
