--- Comment #4 from Leonard <[email protected]> --- The described usage metrics is not about users, but about how specific features are used. It would not include data to identify any user or the work of the users. Some basic connectivity data (e.g. IP address) may be required to avoid misuse of the feature; but any other personal data is not collected. Similarly, the blog post described in issue 115712 seems to focus on collecting usage data for bullet points and image insertion in Impress - which was a valid UX task. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115712 The task could have been explained better and targeted more specifically (e.g. collect data about Bullet points: data like ...). # Mechanism to avoid storing IP address with data One table stores the actual data. A distinct table stores the IP address of users who submitted data for a specific time period (e.h. 1 calendar day or 1 week), without any reference between the 2 tables! Data is collected in batches of 1 day, 1 week or 1 month and sent as 1 batch. In addition, users who opt may receive a random code. The random code (and IP address) are only used to verify if data was already sent for a specific period of time (a specific day, or week). If the data was not sent previously, then the new batch of data can be uploaded for that specific period, without including any personal data to identify that submission. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
