Found this bug report and then tried the example spreadsheet attached above, where crash was repeatable. I've since tried other spreadsheets with auto filtering and it seems hit and miss as to which spreadsheet crash and which don't. Some crash repeatedly, and other I can't reproduce crash on at all, despite at face value being broadly similar. So I'm not sure what the conditions are.
