            Bug ID: 174208
Summary: Dialog larger than usable screen, no resize/scroll
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.8.1.1 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
I ran into this bug myself and used AI to diagnose it. Do with that what you
will.

Text Import (CSV) dialog has a hard-coded minimum size (694×713) that can
exceed small/HiDPI laptop screens, with no scrolling or responsive layout —
OK/Cancel buttons can become unreachable

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use a display with a small logical resolution — e.g. a HiDPI laptop panel
scaled such that the usable logical area is around 960×600 (a 1920×1200 panel
at 2x scale is one way to get there).
2. Open a .csv file in Calc so the Text Import dialog appears.
3. Observe the dialog relative to the screen bounds.

Actual Results:
The dialog renders at a fixed ~713px logical height (694px wide) regardless of
available screen space, with no scrollbar and no content reflow. A
WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 capture shows why — the client repeatedly (~300 times in 2.5
seconds while the dialog is open) sends:
-> xdg_toplevel#49.set_min_size(694, 713)
-> xdg_toplevel#49.set_max_size(0, 0)
i.e. it explicitly pins 713px as a non-negotiable minimum with no maximum. This
isn't a one-time layout pass that could be renegotiated — it's resent
continuously. I confirmed the compositor genuinely cannot shrink it: Hyprland's
size and maxsize window rules were able to resize the width but the height
snapped back to 713 every time. On a 600px-tall logical screen, the dialog
overflows by 113px; depending on placement, the OK/Cancel buttons can end up
partly or fully off-screen and unreachable by mouse (keyboard Tab/Enter still
reaches them, since the dialog holds input focus).

Expected Results:
The dialog should either (a) be resizable/scrollable so its content fits within
whatever screen space is actually available, or (b) declare a smaller, more
conservative minimum size that comfortably fits common small-laptop and
scaled-HiDPI resolutions, rather than an unconditional floor with no maximum.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Worked around locally with a Hyprland window rule that repositions (not
resizes, since resizing was refused) the dialog to anchor its bottom edge
on-screen — trading visibility of the upper options (character set/locale,
which usually auto-detect correctly) to keep the buttons reachable instead.
