Bug ID: 174198
Summary: Non-English typographic family name cannot be
recognized
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 27.2.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
The font recorded with non-Enghlish typographic family name in a file cannot be
recognized and will trigger fallback. This issue is similar to Bug 63011, which
also reported that the non-English font name cannot be recognized, but focus on
the different name ID. 全字庫楷體 doesn't have a typographic family name, which is
ID 16 in the OpenType name ID, until now.
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/207742 accidentally fixed Bug 63011 by
refactoring the whole logic of font recognizing. It includes the non-English
font family name (ID 1) as font family name alias and checks alias when a
document requests a font. However the non-English typographic family name is
not included. The font recorded with non-English typographic family name will
not be recognized.
I am not sure if this should be a duplicated bug of Bug 63011. Please do not
blame me. The maintainer ask me to create a new bug in
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/210517.
I have opened a patch for this bug.
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/210517
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a document request a font with a non-English typographic family name
which cannot be the same as its one of font family name. This cannot be
finished by any version of LibreOffice now.
2. Open that document with Writer, and you will see the fallback font, not the
requested font.
3.
Actual Results:
non-English typographic family name is not recognized.
Expected Results:
Recognize non-English typographic family name.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
