Tested in 26.8.1.1 and master, Windows 11.

Setup: A1=250, B1=250, A2=500, B2=500. Merged A1:B1 and A2:B2 with
"Keep the contents of the hidden cells". =SUM(A1:B2) gives 1500, so the
hidden values are still there.

Status bar Sum when selecting the two merged cells (26.8.1.1):
- drag from A1 to A2: Name Box A1:B2, Sum 1500
- click A1, Shift+click A2: A1:B2, Sum 1500
- click A1, Ctrl+click A2: A1:A2, Sum 750
- type A1:A2 in the Name Box: A1:A2, Sum 750

With Shift and Ctrl, the highlighted area on screen looks exactly the same
(both merged cells fully highlighted), but the real selection is different
(A1:B2 vs A1:A2), so the Sum is different. With the Name Box, only the left
half of the merged cells is highlighted, which matches the real selection.

So I can confirm comment 8: after Ctrl+click, the selection is drawn as if
it covered the whole merged cells, but it only includes the first column.
Same Shift/Ctrl results in master.

Also: a single click on a merged cell selects A1:B1, but the Sum is 250
(the hidden B1 is not counted).
