Bug #: 44352
Summary: Unable to run Writer without Java without first
installing Java
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: LibO 3.5.0 Beta2
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
I have been using Libreoffice 3.4.4 without Java installed and had disable Java
from within the settings after loading up Writer. Before installing
Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2, I uninstalled 3.4.4.
After installing Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2, I opened Writer. While Writer
loaded, multiple times, a dialog box showed up, mentioning about Java not being
detected. After clicking the ok button each time (it is the only button in the
dialogue box), writer appears to have closed; ie I couldn't get Writer to
complete loading up.
I attempted loading Writer again, same result. I attempted re=installing, same
result.
It was only after installing Java 6 and loading Writer that I could get into
Java. I could then disable Java from within writer and uninstall Java 6, to
get Libreoffice to run without Java.
Based on this, a few issues:
1) Writer should useable when loaded, at least until the Java dependent
functionality is actually required.
2) Libreoffice 3.5.0 Beta 2 is not taking into consideration settings of a
previous version.
