            Bug ID: 174254
Summary: FILESAVE DOCX: list numbering restarts lost — a
separate list with the same list style continues the
previous one, and an explicit restart applies only to
                    its first item
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.8.1.1 release
          Hardware: x86 (IA32)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
When a document has several lists that use the same list style, the DOCX export
writes a single numbering instance (w:num) for that style. In Writer each list
restarts at 1, but in the exported DOCX they run on from one another.

An explicit restart (a list item with text:start-value="1", as set by "Restart
Numbering" or Format > Paragraph > Outline & List > "Restart numbering at this
paragraph") is exported as a new w:num with a startOverride, but only the
list's first item is assigned to it. The remaining items go back to the
original w:num, so they continue the old count.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached list-restart.odt. It has three lists using the same list
style "MyNumbering"; each is numbered 1, 2, 3 in Writer.
2. File > Save As > Word 2007-365 (.docx).
3. Reopen the .docx in Writer (or open it in Microsoft Word or OnlyOffice).

Actual Results:
List A: 1, 2, 3
List B: 4, 5, 6
List C: 1, 7, 8

Expected Results:
Each list is numbered 1, 2, 3, as in the ODT.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
In word/numbering.xml, all items of lists A and B use numId 1. List C item 1
uses numId 4 (startOverride 1), but list C items 2 and 3 use numId 1 again.
Expected: each separate list, and each restarted list, gets its own w:num with
startOverride, and every item of that list uses it. That is also how Microsoft
Word represents a restart.

In real documents this misnumbers legal pleadings and discovery responses, e.g.
interrogatories numbered 21, 22, 23 instead of 1, 2, 3. About 7% of our firm's
drafts contain a restarted numbered list, so we currently have to check every
DOCX by hand before sending it.

A related issue, which may deserve its own report: paragraphs whose paragraph
style carries a list style are exported with a direct <w:ind w:start="0"
w:hanging="0"/>, which overrides the list level's indents in Word.

The same problem in the older .doc filter is tracked as tdf#40272.

Version: 26.8.1.1 (flatpak), Linux
