Probably NOT A BUG. the spreadsheet had imported a table where the numeric entries were marked with " ' " (ie. single apostrophes or "tick marks", meaning literal string data) in the formula for each number (it should have been just the number). So when I copied the column and then wanted to paste-special only the numbers (to clean it up for further number crunching....which is a common excel trick) it would not do it! I had to manually delete the tick marks (the single apostrophes " ' ") before each numerical entry. Then everything worked. Don't know if that's a bug or not.... Would be nice if could highlight a column of numbers (albeit numbers like '34.5, with the tick in front of them) and repaste only the number w/o the tick mark. Sheet is attached.
