I followed your suggestion above. I was able to load an existing presentation
in Impress and do a "Save As" to create a copy for modification. The save
completed successfully and Impress was responsive after the save. This had
failed when the same operation was attempted before following your suggestion.
Time will tell if this really did solve the problem, since the problem has not
been consistent in that sometimes that saves would work and other times they
would not. I was not able to link the times that problems occurred to any
particular operation that I was performing. The fail would sometimes happen
when just a simple change such as adding word or two to a slide, and other
times when doing something more complex such as adding a video. The same
operations done at other times would have not issues with the save. The problem
seems to be isolated to Impress and not other modules within Open Office. I
will let you know if the problem occurs again.
