--- Comment #9 from Michael Parker <[email protected]> ---
Many thanks Dominique for the time and trouble you are taking.
I understand most of the detail to which you refer and it does
look as though you were able to, more or less, reproduce the situation I
experienced.
If it will be of any help, I can mention that the Writer document
was started by first erasing an older piece of correspondence. The old text
appeared half way up, and in between, the logo and address panel with the email
address above that. It was not originated in this fashion but for some reason,
was stored this way.
The original letter, before erasure, was formed using "Times New
Roman" font name and font size 9. .........The content of the original letter
was erased, i.e. the 1st. sheet of A4. However, text was typed on to a 2nd.
sheet, about a quarter of a page, but I'm unsure whether or not this was erased
at the same time as the 1st page, but my thoughts probably were, at the time,
that this did not matter, for if I required a 2nd sheet on which to continue,
then erasure could be done accordingly.
I made a decision, when I created the new text, to change the font
name and sizing, as you mentioned.
I wonder if trying to mix styles and sizing, together with erasing
an old document, was a sensible thing. With hindsight, it would be better to
start with a blank document only containing the logo and address. In the
interests of not reproducing the same problem again, it would sensible not to
try again my original method of creation. I can understand that any new
document being created could be confused by any such changes.
I hope this information is of help.
                                       Sincerely.........Mike Parker

Subject: [Bug 70645] : Sudden erasure of partially completed letter

Comment # 8 on bug 70645 from Dominique Boutry
LibO 4.1.2.3 on Win7 :

After a number of trials and errors on the .ODT provided file, I manage to get
a situation which could be in relation with the present bug 70645. I had
noticed that the truncated text occured on the sole and unique paragraph with
direct formating in "Dejavu Sans" in the underlying "Text Body" native
paragraph style. After I tried to modify this paragraph style in the stylist,
Writer fell into an "endless cycling" error with undiscontinued disk activity.
After a few seconds I stopped abruptly the process (being afraid of what
happened to my PC), and I experimented then difficulties to recover the file,
in a new attempt to use Writer.

I'm just suggesting an area of search : modifying a standard template file,
which could have repercussions on other stored documents based on this
standard.

I'm unable to reproduce the sequence and to give more info for the time being.
