             Bug #: 44820
Summary: EDITING: International domain names are shown as
                    punycode
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: LibO 3.3.4 release
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

Problem description:
When copy-pasting url:s from any browsers url bar, international domain names
such as http://例え.テスト will be shown in punycode as
http://xn--r8jz45g.xn--zckzah/%E3%83%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%B3%E3%83%9A%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8.
This is probably techically correct (I guess the punycode is what actually gets
copied), it's not what I believe most users would expect. As the string is
converted to a hyper link, it could as well be displayed in it's native format.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure your browser has a language with non ascii characters in it among
the preferred languages (required in Chrome, but not in Firefox or Opera). Most
languages except English would do.
2. Go to any IDN domain in that language (such as http://例え.テスト, if you have
Japanese among your preferred languages).
3. Copy the url from the url bar
4. Paste the url in Libre Office Writer

Current behavior:
URL gets converted to a hyperlink, but with the punycode as text:
http://xn--r8jz45g.xn--zckzah/%E3%83%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%B3%E3%83%9A%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8

Expected behavior:
URL gets convertet to a hyperlink, but the text will be displayed just as it
would in a browser: http://例え.テスト/メインページ

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko)
Chrome/16.0.912.75 Safari/535.7
