Gorka Navarrete <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |REOPENED Resolution|WONTFIX |--- --- Comment #12 from Gorka Navarrete <[email protected]> --- @Bugcruncher, I think it is generally a bad idea to blame the user, particularly assuming that a general user should know anything at all about the limitations of capacities of the different formats (incidentally, do you know where the information can be found?). I do not have an irrational desire to do a complete check. I understand a complete check may be unattainable and require too much effort. But I am talking about improving the present solution. A partial check with the most common data-losing problems seems like a good alternative to nothing at all. If, as Markus states, we know that most users ignore the dialog, then the present solution is not working and we should probably look for an alternative. We are talking about users losing their data, which could mean users ditching LO. If we know all the limitations of the ods format and some (the most important I would guess) limitations of xls, etc, a link in the warning dialog to a wiki page with those limitations by order of "popularity" seems like a very easy and good enough solution. Then we can start talking about the responsibility of the user for not attending to meaningful information. Right know we are blaming them for not being LO hackers, well almost. I am reopening the bug based on the above arguments. I do not intend to be rude by doing so. I do believe that format problems are the #1 roadblock for the feasibility of LO as an alternative to MS Office and we should not ignore them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
