reproducible with LO 4.1.4.2 (Win8), but in my case
"When I saved a document, closed and reopened it, both odd and even pages
footers were aligned right." -> it was aligned left

Steps done:
1. Open a new document in WRITER
2. Write the text "Page 1"
3. Go to INSERT -> MANUAL BREAK and select PAGE BREAK and press OK
4. Write the text "Page 2"
5. Go to INSERT -> FOOTER -> DEFAULT STYLE and write the text "Footer-Test"
6. Go to FORMAT -> PAGE and to the tab FOOTER and deselect SAME CONTENT
LEFT/RIGHT and press OK
7. Go to page 2 and select the text "Footer-Test" in the footer and select the
icon ALIGN RIGHT in the toolbar at the top

Result: On page 1 "Footer-Test" is left aligned and on page 2 right aligned.

8. Save this file as odt and close WRITER
9. Open the saved file

Result: On both pages "Footer-Test" is left aligned. The right alignment on
page 2 is lost.
