https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73262
Priority: medium
Bug ID: 73262
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: cannot insert one Writer document into another
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 3.5.4 release
Component: Writer
Product: LibreOffice
Triager: please note my question about the behaviour I expect.
STR:
(1) Download and unpack the archive in the first attachment to bug
72272 <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=90178>.
It contains two small Writer documents, bug_072150{a,b}.ods.
(2) Open bug_072150b.ods.
(3) Click below the image. LibreOffice removes handles from the image
and places the caret on the line below the image.
(4) Take menu options File > Insert. LibreOffice presents dialog
Insert.
(5) Navigate to file bug_072150a.odt and click <Open>.
Program action observed : The document-modified flag in the status
bar is set.
Program action expected : Additionally, the document should have a
second image, the new one a little bit different from the first.
I know of some bug reports similar to this one:
(*) Bug 72272 "loop closing Writer document after read error" has the
same steps (1) through (4) to reproduce, but thereafter the
program does different things.
(*) Bug 72150 "Error by insert file, conflict by images names"
complains about an error message displayed at what corresponds to
step (5) of this bug. It is resolved as being duplicate of ...
(*) Bug 74150 "FILEOPEN: ODT with frame with no draw:name does not
open", which is resolved FIXED.
My comment in bug 72150 suggests that the real problem there is the
failure to insert the requested content. The fix did not take account
of that suggestion; I do not know whether the oversignt is deliberate
or an accident. I think the main question for the triager of the
present bug is whether the requested insertion *should* work.
My observations are of master commit 8c5f5aa, fetched 2013-12-31 21:42
UTC, configured as:
--enable-option-checking=fatal
--enable-dbgutil
--enable-crashdump
--without-system-postgresql
--without-myspell-dicts
--with-extra-buildid
--without-doxygen
--with-external-tar=/home/terry/lo_hacking/git/src
built and running on debian-wheezy 64-bit.
LibreOffice delivered with wheezy, version 3.5.4.2, shows the same
behaviour.
