Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74378
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: UI: Add "Edit Cell Contents" to cell context menu
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.1.4.2 release
Component: Spreadsheet
Product: LibreOffice
Please add an entry called "Edit Cell Contents..." (or similar) to the context
menu that appears when the user right-clicks a cell in Calc.
The intent is for this to be combined with the solution to bug 74377 (add
keyboard shortcut text to the menu) so that the F2 key will be named in some
visible place in the UI.
The F2 key is very frequently used by advanced users who navigate from cell to
cell by means of the cursor keys, Tab key, etc.. One of the usability problems
(in my opinion) with a widely used commercial office software suite is that
that software (at least many versions of it) doesn't let users know the
keyboard shortcut for Edit Cell Contents, so it may take a long time for a
novice user to find out that F2 can be used for this. LO should do better than
that.
I'm using LibreOffice 4.1.4.2 on Ubuntu 13.04.
