We discussed this behavior on the UX hackfest right now. The correct behavior should be: close the dialog after you successfully saved a template (which is suggested in bug 74475). This is the same behavior as saving as a regular file. Lets fix that bug, so this bug is 'obsolete' because we will not return to this dialog afterwards.
