In version 3.4.5 and 3.5.0, if you clic on OK without providing a password LO
ask you to provide a password OR to check the "open in read-only mode" check
box.
If you do that you don't need a password. On the next opening, the file is
opened in read-only mode and you can switch in edit mode by clicking on the
Edit button.

So you can save a file without password, event if the security option is
checked.
