Hi,
I have done more tests: Jan 2012 and pressing Enter it displays:
1. LibreOffice 3.4.5: 40909 => probably some internal representation of date
2. LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC2: 01.01.12 => it looks like a January 1st 2012 in
DD.MM.YY format
3. Microsoft Office 2007: jan.12 => so proper display of month data.

I have done one more test:
1. Open new file in Microsoft Office.
2. Entered: Jan 2012 in the A1 cell, Feb 2012 in A2 cell etc to Dec 2012.
3. Saved the file into xls file format.
4. Opened file with LibreOffice 3.4.5 and LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC2 and data are
properly displayed like jan.12, feb.12 etc.
5. I have right clicked on A1 cell and selected "Format Cells..." from
drop-down list.
6. On Number tab, Date is selected in Category section. In Format section is
seleced: dec.99. In "Format code" section is displayed: MMM.YY

Now I have looked into original file in both versions to see what is "Format
Cells" defined (Numbers tab):
LibreOffice 3.4.5: Category: Number. Format: -1.234. Format code: #.##0
LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC2: Category: Date. Format: 31.12.99. Format code: DD.MM.YY

What I see it is just a formatting problem. So for Jan 2012 LibreOffice should
recognize correct formatting and applied it (just like Microsoft Office 2007
does): Category: Date. Format: dec.99. Format code: MMM.YY

P.S. Currently I am working in LibreOffice 3.4.5, but when LibreOffice 3.5.0
final will be released I will use it. So it is perfectly fine for me to fix
this bug only in v3.5.x branch and not in v3.4.x.
Thanks
