Reproducible with LO 3.5.0 rc2+ on the 4th attachment
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=55481).
It is a very old bug, I have ever seen in OOo.

It seems that the problem comes from the gap between the border and the formula
object. When you double-click on the formula to edit it, that restore the
correct size of the object and the gap is now zero. You can change the gap to
zero without editing the formula, only by the right-click menu, tab border:
activate the border, change the gap to 0 and hide the border. Now the size of
the formula seems correct.

Best regards. JBF
