Bug #: 45474
Summary: Impress file created with Presentation wizard does not
always save/read format correctly
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: LibO 3.4.5 release
Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
I noticed that when created impress files, sometimes the file I created did not
read back into Impress with the correct formatting.
It took me a while to find a 100% reproducible case, but it is outlined below:
For some reason, when I read the files they pop up a message about the template
having been changed, even though it was not touched between the creation and
the reading of the file. As the instructions below indicate, it does not matter
what one selects on that popup, you don't get back what you think you created.
1) Start Impress
2) When Presentation wizard pops up, select "from template". The bottom part of
the panel changes to show a popup field which has "Presentations" selected and
a selection list which has the first item "Another Poppy" selected. Don't touch
either, leaving them as they are and hit "Next"
3) Step 2 appears with a popup field with "Presentation Backguonds" selected
and a list of backgrounds below it. Leave the popup untouched and from the list
of backgrounds choose "Blue Lines and Gradients)". Then hit the "Create" button
4) At this point an empty slide is created. Type in text into the header field,
and create several bullet points. Create bullet points with indentations below
them. Note that:
All bullet levels have white text!
5) Save the file in the default .odp file format
6) Quit out of Impress
7) Double click on the file that was create to open impress
8) At this point a popup shows up that says "The template 'Blue Lines and
Gradients' on which this document is based, has been modified. Do you want to
update style based formatting according to the modified template"? Why does
this happen, the template has not been modified since I create the file.
9) Select "Keep Old Styles". The file reads in, but the color of the text for
bullet levels 2 and up has been changed to black, even though it was white when
the files was being edited.
10) Quit out of the file.
11) Double click on the file to read it again
12) This time, select "Update Styles" on the popup. Note that the entire format
is changed to the default poppy template, ignoring the background that I had
selected when creating the document in the template. It looks like nothing that
was saved.
