I think this is a recent regression. At least, LO 3.5.7.2 was ok. Steps to
reproduce:
1) Select a single character in a Word
2) Format/Character/Position/Subscript or Superscript
3) See the character disapears (in fact, replaced by a very small space).
Workaround: with CTRL-SHIFT-B, I get the normal behaviour (subscript).
No such problem in Calc.
