Example Template for a Line Grid
Solution:
Draw grid with Lines for better appearance and better visual guidance.
Required settings:
- Margins - already there, set with Page, working well
- Grid scaling, already there, set with Grid Options, working well
- Printable Grid option missing, should be added to Grid Options
Missing:
- Set Line width - missing, is needed for good printing,
needs experimentation for specific printer models and drivers
(0.12mm good preset for Kyocera Laser Printer,
0.2mm should always work, but is a little too big for my liking)
- Major Lines 20% gray - best looking preset here
- Minor Lines 10% gray - best looking preset here
Good presets:
- Resolution 1mm (small enough for drawing fine details)
- Minor Subdivision 2mm (best resolution for most screens)
- Major Subdivision 10mm (best for coarse position estimates)
- Color and Line Width could be added as Grid Options.
These presets allow quick and intuitive making of almost any kind of drawing
with little efford. The setting is coarse enough to be easily hit with the
cursor and fine enough to make good details without constant resetting. I have
done extensive experimentation with the settings. The above turned out as the
best compromise for almost any formal drawing here.
See the attached A4 Template as an example, made with the above settings.
