Steps to reproduce:
0. Let N=7.
1. Put 2^N lines containing 2^N times "0⇥" each
2. Select all text.
3. Convert selection of text.
Current behavior:
3. Writer does not update and stops responding until ready.
Expected behavior:
3. A progress bar.
