Bug #: 45732
Summary: calc .xls defaults to Excel 5 instead of Office
97/2K/XP/2K3, breaks formatting?
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: LibO 3.4.5 release
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
Created attachment 56702

Broken xls file.
I'm creating calc spreadsheets that are then sent to Office 2KX users.
By default, I send xls files in Office 2K/XP/2K3 format.
Since switching to LO 3.4 xls files are saved, by default, in the Excel 5
format unless I manually select Excel 2K/XP/2K3 by using Save-As.
As far as I can see, Excel 5 format, beyond being incompatible with recent
Microsoft Office releases, also breaks cell formatting.
In the attached each F1-F(hidden)-F2-F3-SUM column group had a 2.0pt border
that separated it from the next column group. Save->Close->Open cycle removes
the borders.
Saving the file as ods solves the problem (Borders are maintained across
Save->Close->Open cycles).
