Priority: medium
Bug ID: 79102
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: EDITING: Nearly constant hanging
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.2.4.2 release
Component: Writer
Product: LibreOffice
OS X 10.9.2. Since upgrading from 4.0.something to 4.2.4, it seems I can
seldom go as long as 7 minutes without LibreOffice Writer hanging (my record is
perhaps 20 minutes). It is always the case that Force Quit does not recognize
LibreOffice as nonresponsive, but it is unresponsive to all keystrokes, all
cursor movements, all trackball gestures, and remains unresponsive for several
minutes. I've waited past the autobackup time, and when I go back in, sure
enough, it didn't autosave or autobackup.
The list of last things I was doing when it hung is widely varied: typing;
saving (previously saved document or first time saving), changing font or font
size, hitting ctrl-z, choosing an auto-correct on a misspelled word, selecting
an outline format, removing italics... I'm tempted to try to get into the
habit of following every keystroke with Command-s, except that this keystroke
has also been the last thing I did when it hung. With this varied list, I
don't know what further documentation might help. I don't see anything I can
do in Writer that I feel is safe from hanging.
I was so glad when I was told about LibreOffice, so eager to get Microsoft
even further out of my life, but now, I'm either going to go back to a previous
version, or just give it up altogether.
Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.2.4.2 release
