The General tab of the File > Properties dialog is ugly because its layout is
highly unstable. I’ve highlighted many errors on the attached screenshot.
Its layout depend on the different labels’ length, so that lenghty translations
add up to an useless white space near the document’s icon — that space should
be available to the short file name field instead, which is again dependable on
the length of the document author’s name, a label that’s placed much below and
thus is unrelated.
Note that, in the attached screenshot, the Properties dialog is much wider than
if the shown fields were empty, leading to all of that messy white space.
(@Caolán: CCed you as you’re the expert in Glade :-), i hope you find a little
time to cast more of your magic on this. Thanks in advance for any response!)
