Dear Julien,

Thank you for your help.

I have downloaded version 3.4.5 and on one level the problem has been resolved.
The program no longer seizes up as soon as I select Find & Replace.

But curiously enough I now find that in version 3.4.5 Find or Find & Replace
are no longer accessible from the keyboard by use of the Command key and F. I
have
to go and select the relevant command Find or Find and Replace from the Menu
bar. But  I can happily live with that.

Christopher Walker

Last stable version is 3.4.5 and there'll be 3.5.0 very soon (3.5.0 rc3) has
been released.
You must know that there won't be any 3.3.X version.
Could you try to reproduce with any of these 2 versions ?
