I get the same behaviour when my Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages>User
Interface is set to "English (UK)".  Setting to "English (USA)" allows calc to
compute formulas again.  The "Locale" setting doesn't matter, and it doesn't
matter what keyboard layout is set.

I wonder if the other reporters are also using non-USA user interfaces?

Possible work around:
1. Set Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages>User Interface is set to
"English (USA)"
2. Close calc.  Do not save the file.
3. Re-open calc. Do the formulas work now?
