Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80099
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: File Menu no longer interacts with History Master
Add-in properly
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.2.1.1 release
Component: Libreoffice
Product: LibreOffice
I use the History Master Add-in:
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/history-master
because it offers vastly superior file list handling for my purposes (it should
really be built in to Libre Office in an enhanced form) - it allows the recent
file list to be expanded to 100 files, and for some management of the files
displayed in the drop down list, including ordering, purging of unwanted and
deleted files from the file list, display only of files of the same type as the
component you are working in (e.g. just spreadsheets, or just presentations
etc.)
It no longer works with 4.2.1.1, with the menu under Tools - Addon - History
Master to set its parameters and manage lists, and the File - Recent Documents
of Same Type options both producing scripting errors. Obviously this could be
considered at least in part an issue for the writers of the Add-in - but rather
it prompts:
***Enhancement for consideration***
I download large numbers of spreadsheets and documents from the internet
(mainly statistics that are periodically updated and revised). It is often not
possible to be certain whether a download will be relevant until after
examining it, but the file gets added to the Recent Documents list in top spot.
If the document proves irrelevant on examination, ideally I want to purge it:
close the file, delete it, and remove all reference in Recent Documents - in
one operation (subject to confirmation to prevent accidental deletion through
miskeying).
If the document does prove to be one I want to keep, I may need to rename it
(as internet downloads aren't always given useful filenames), and remove the
reference to the impenetrable name given to the original downloaded file from
the Recent Documents list, replacing it with the new name. Again, a single
operation.
Ideally, the Recent Document list needs slightly different organisation, more
akin to a bookmark system, with group headings by topic for subfolders of
files. Yes, this can be achieved by messing around with folder creation using
the operating system, but that is a real pain compared with an instant popup
menu as in a browser's bookmarks. That could easily allow for rapid access to
several hundred documents.
