Calc does not care "(" and takes as "."
Problem description:
Hi,
If the formula syntax has a "." in its name to seperate it from derivative for
example lets take STDEV and STDEV.P.
If you start typing to have "STDEV", the formula suggestion and completion will
change to STDEV.P when you type the open bracket"(" like:
=STDEV(
Screenshot can better tell the issue.
In Calc and OO.org the traditional formula seperator was "_" i think. The new
functions of Excel imported to calc are using "."
In addition, we, in Turkish locale decided to use MS Excel's locale names to
make it uniform to have the chance to say "Yes, the functions are same, you may
use the formula sytntax you used to" to enable more migrations to Calc...
Anyway we have many formulas localized with "." and this suggestion window can
mislead the users.
Also the "." is stopping the guessing if you type =STDEV. popup does not come
up and syntax help is missing.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Calc, type =STDEV( into a cell
2. "(" char will not stop the formula guessing
1.a - Open Calc, type =STDEV. into a cell to have STDEV.P no suggestion comes
(may be there is more functions as STDEV.S and P) - or lets take WEIBULL and
WEIBULL.DIST if you type to =WEIBULL.D Calc will ignore the syntax before the
dot and suggest you DCOUNT function
Current behavior:
"(" is not stopping the guessing and sytnax help
"." char to be recognized
Expected behavior:
"(" to stop the guessing and give the correct formula help
"." char to be recognized
Operating System: All
