          Priority: medium
            Bug ID: 80612
          Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: Maneuvering with tabs in Writer
          Severity: normal
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux (All)
          Reporter: [email protected]
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
           Version: 4.2.5.2 release
         Component: Writer
           Product: LibreOffice

It used to be possible in Writer at some point not too distant in the past to
do stuff with the keyboard - now it's not anymore. Here's an example: I am
writing stuff in Writer. Then, I highlight a word with shift and some
keystrokes right because I want to make that word small caps. Then I press
"Alt+O" (to get into the Format menu), then "h" to get into the "Character"
menu. That menu opens up then but what I used to be able to do doesn't work
anymore, namely press Tab three times to get to Effects and then press down to
get to small caps: that window doesn't get focus. Why is that - it's giving up
functionality that could be done fast with a keyboard and now has to be done
slowly with additional mouse movements etc. In that connection, why is it that

- when I click on that window anywhere to make it have focus and the press
Alt+S (which should get me to Strikethrough, because that S is underlined), I
get to Effects?
- of the options at the top, only Strikethrough has a shortcut indicated (even
though it doesn't work) but Font color, Effects, etc. don't?
- that these font effects cannot be assigned a shortcut via Tools: Customize:
Keyboard? It makes no sense to not be able to go there and define a shortcut
for Small Caps ...
