I am not sure how helpful that last comment was. The current status is

- libreoffice renders the presentations in a partly unreadable way currently
(with no warnings etc.)
- You have pointed me to a search engine.

So instead I tried

sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer edubuntu-fonts
ubuntustudio-font-meta ttf-oxygen-font-family ttf-xfree86-nonfree

This still doesn't help.

I then downloaded http://fontsgeek.com/fonts/Arial-Rounded-MT-Bold-Bold (maybe
this is the wrong thing?) and put the ttf into .fonts . This didn't help and
when I open the presentation is I see it is using Calibri.

It's still not at all clear to me how to get libreoffice to render the
presenation correctly in ubuntu.
