as soon as a conditional formatting is added, the $'s disappear.
reproducible: always
steps:
# open calc
# format -> conditional formatting -> manage
# choose anything, select a cell or range (notice the default $'s for absolute
reference)
# click OK
# range is displayed as relative reference (without $'s)
