One funny thing catches my eye:

Bugzilla reports the mime-types of 1.xls and 12.xls as
application/kset; I do not know whethere Vladimir assigned that or let
bugzilla calculate the value.  Meanwhile `file` version file-5.11,
shows the mime-types of those and of 4.2.5.2.xls as
application/msword.  LibreOffice opens each of them in Calc.  What
gives, I wonder?

The output from `file` on the three files, FWIW, is (whitespace
added):
