weird answer for vlookup formula when range contains "()"

Problem description:
"Vlookup" and "Match" formulas don't work when data range contains "()"
caracters. 

Steps to reproduce:
1. A1="(a)"; A2="b"
2. B2="(a)"; B2="=VLOOKUP(A2;$A$1:$B$1;2;0)"

Current behavior:
B2=#N/A

Expected behavior:
B2="b"

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.2.4.2 release
