Take two spreadsheets. One has user-defined cell formats that the other
doesn't. From the extra-formats spreadsheet, copy a cell that doesn't use a
user-defined format. Paste that cell into the other spreadsheet. Go to the
Format Cells popup and examine Numbers -> Category -> User-Defined. You will
see that all of the additional user-defined formats have been copied into your
spreadsheet, "contaminating" it.
