Have done all this with OpenSUSE 12.3 64bit rpm an LO 4.2.6.2 - couldn't produce any crash while using JDBC-connection. Haven't any possibility to chose the direct connection, because there is no extension available. Step 2, 3 and 4 are steps, which have nothing to do with the changing of the properties. 1 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 should do the same. But also no crash here.
