Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83242
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: UI: Inform User during Installation, that LibreOffice
is Accessible for Users with Impairments/Disabilities
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.3.0.4 release
Component: Installation
Product: LibreOffice
Problem description:
Since Version 4.3.0 the option "Support assistive technology tools" during
installation (only Windows) is no longer necessary (see bug 80332). A user told
me, that he came to know about the accessibility functions of LO only by chance
because of this installation option.
Hence to my opinion generally it should be more pointed out, that LibreOffice
comprehends several functions in order to support users with
Impairments/Disabilities.
Solution:
That means for the installation process that there should be again a hint
according the accessibility functions. For Windows I propose to integrate this
hint into the installation dialogue during the genuine installation process,
anyway the user has to wait at this point. This hint could be improved, if it
is highlighted a bit and if a link to the accessibility page of the LibreOffice
website is integrated into the hint.
For Linux and Mac OS there should be similar hints during the installation. I'm
not familiar with Linux and Mac OS, hence I don't know how to integrate this
hint into the installation process.
Operating System: All
Version: 4.3.0.4 release
