Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83762
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: FORMATTING: Cursor can be Positioned beyond Paper
Margins by Using Negative Indentation Values
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.3.1.2 release
Component: Writer
Product: LibreOffice
Problem description:
Steps to reproduce:
[1] Open new text document.
[2] Open indentation dialogue: Format > Paragraph... > Indents & Spacing
[3] Set indentation before text to a negative value which is outside the paper
margin (e.g. 5 cm)
[4] Click OK. The cursor is visible outside the paper margin. You can insert
text, this text is not visible outside the paper margin.
Expected: The indentation value should be limited, so that the cursor is always
positioned within the paper margins.
The behaviour is equal if you set the indentation only for the first line to a
negative value. And also if you set the indentation value after the text the
behaviour is equal. In this case you have to insert at least one line of text
to observe this behaviour.
Hint: The bug exists already in version 3.5.0. Hence possibly inherited from
OOo. In Versions 4.2.0 to 4.2.4 (I did not check 4.2.5 and 4.2.6) there is a
difference to older versions and also to 4.3.0 and 4.3.1. if you use the
measurement unit 'character'. In this case the cursor is not positioned outside
the paper margins, but the behaviour is also not correct.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.3.1.2 release
